A television crew intrudes into a village hutment and plonks a camera bang in the middle of its cramped, messy space. It is looking for an exclusive, TRP-boosting ‘conversation’ with a suicidal farmer. The latter, dread and bewilderment writ large on his face, cringes in a corner of the room.
The star reporter, doing her best to exude sympathy, seeks to assuage the man's fears. "Don’t be afraid," she says. "This camera cannot do anything."
Well, the TV cameras do an awful lot of things in Peepli Live, and not all of it is of a salutary nature. Source

The thing about shallow people from the beau monde is that they shouldn't be played shallowly when brought to the screen.
Sonam Kapoor in a 'tailor'-made role (where more moolah seems to have been spent on tailoring her chic outfits than on exploring the locations, sound sights scents and, yes, sense of this embarrassing world of excessive self-preening) gets the Jane Austen character right. Quite a leap for the actress.

She, a wannabe figure skater, cannot see. He, a bare-knuckles street-fighter, doesn’t need to. But both Pinky Palkar and Nandan Kamtekar have their sights firmly set on a better life, a life beyond the mean backstreets of Mumbai. The path out of this morass is, needless to say, littered with countless snares.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai takes us back to the beginnings of gangsterism in Mumbai. Milan Luthria excels in creating smouldering combustive stress between two mean menacing men… Remember Devgn (who back then was Devgan, just as Mumbai was Bombay when the film under review unfolds) and Saif Ali Khan in Luthria's Kachche Dhaage and on a more satirical note, John Abraham and Nana Patekar in Taxi No 9211.

Trisha’s plans for ruling Bollywood

trisha krishnan 1The latest import from the South – Trisha Krishnan had a so-so debut in Priyadarshan’s satire Khatta Meetha. Though the movie wasn’t a box office blockbuster like Priyadarshan’s previous comedy escapades, it did launch Trisha’s career in Bollywood and the actress is in no mood to back off without placing herself as a leading lady in the North. She has got definite plans for attaining this status and that involves being choosy and demanding about her male leads and the projects.

“I would love to work with established stars like Aamir and SRK. Also, young actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan are very promising,” says Trisha. It is indeed surprising to see Akshay Kumar’s name missing from that list as the actress was often found showering praises on him till Khatta Meetha released.

Trisha goes on to add, “When I started my career in South, I worked with well packaged filmmakers and will follow the same in Bollywood. Since I want to establish myself here, I intend to be part of well packaged films. As I am venturing in this industry I am making cautious moves...Also, I am choosy about the films I do. I want to slowly and gradually make a mark in this industry as well.”

The plan sounds good Trisha. But we’d suggest that you keep your fingers crossed as Bollywood has its dose of unpleasant surprises and that includes big budget superstar movies tanking without warning.
