To be given an opportunity to be screened at the Berlin International Film Festival is an honor in itself for any movie. My Name is Khan, the latest movie from Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment has received the chance this time. The festival which has been scheduled to be held from Feb 11 to 21, 2010 is one the oldest and prestigious film festivals in the world.

My Name is Khan reunites the golden trio of Bollywood – Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The team is well known for giving Bollywood some of its biggest blockbusters including Kuch Kuch Hota Hei and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. The movie reunites SRK and Kajol after a period of eight years. They were last seen together in the star-studded Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.

SRK dons the role of Rizwan Khan, a Muslim from Mumbai who suffers from Asperger syndrome, a form of autism. Rizwan marries Mandira (Kajol), a Hindu single mother in San Francisco. Post 9/11, Rizwan is detained by authorities at LA International Airport. The officials confuse his medical condition for “suspicious behavior”.

My Name is Khan is distributed by Fox STAR Studios in India and by Fox Searchlight worldwide. The date to mark on your calendars is February 12 2010.

The 60^th Berlin International Film Festival will also be a proving ground for dozens of movies from around the globe. The festival director Dieter Kosslick stated, “The Competition of the 60th anniversary Berlinale will be marked by a mix of styles and genres, by exciting newcomers and renowned directors.”
