Aamir Khan may be the expert in terms of movie promotional tactics. But Amitabh Bachchan and the marketing team of Rann have stepped up and have given Aamir a lesson or two in innovative movie promotion. In his upcoming movie Rann, Big B dons the role of Vijay Harshwardhan, a media mogul who attempts to bring a balance between news and sensationlism. To promote the movie the team of Rann devised a new marketing strategy which involved Big B appearing on national television with a special wrap-up report of the year 2009. The promo was telecast on major English and Hindi news channels and was aired on radio in 36 cities thereby reaching millions in India. It blended in well with the news shows and given the fact that the movie is related to electronic media made it a excellent method of marketing as well. Unlike the usual song promos, trailers and interviews with the lead actors, Rann took the less taken yet more punchy route and that delivered. The TV channels and radio networks have received postive responses from the audience making the whole exercise a huge success. |
