 The trio of Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are the front runners in the race for queen of Bollywood title. By the looks of it Kareena seems to have proven that she is the most expensive of them all. The actress has given a green light for her role in the third instalment of Rohit Shetty’s action-comedy series Golmaal. The producers of Golmaal 3, Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd is shelling out Rs. 70 million to rope in Kareena. The sum is the highest ever paid to an actress in Bollywood. Equality of the sexes is surely coming up much quicker than expected as some of the leading heroes in Bollywood charge a fee in that range.However, the readiness from the producers’ end to pay her such a huge fee sounds a bit ill-advised as the actress hasn’t had any major hits in 2009 except for 3 Idiots. It doesn’t require an expert to realize that 3 idiots didn’t succeed based on Kareena’s star power. Kareena’s major exponent at the moment seems to be Rohot Shetty himself who wanted her to be a part of Golmaal 3 at any cost. The enormous success of Golmaal 2 seems to have attributed a lucky mascot status to Kareena. On another note, she was paid around Rs. 2.5 crore for Golmaal 2 and there is obviously a substantial increment this time. The third movie won’t have any other heroines. With a pricey actress already on board there isn’t room for any after all. The gang of guys will be back in full force with Ajay Devgan, Sharman Joshi, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Shreyas Talpade. Now how are going to deal with this one heroine situation? We’ll have to wait and see. |
