Some of you must have seen the classic heist movie The Italian Job which starred Michael Caine or its equally good remake with Mark Wahlberg, Jason Statham, Edward Norton and Charlize Theron. Both movies were well-received by the critics and set the cash registers ringing non-stop. The caper premise of The Italian Job also involved a high speed car chase sequence which movie buffs regard as the best ones ever filmed.

Bollywood, which doesn’t miss out on a chance to get “inspired” by Hollywood has already got a remake under construction. The director-duo of Abbas-Mustan is currently busy with the casting of the remake. Abhishek Bachchan and Katrina Kaif had been selected for the movie in the preliminary stage. But given the fact that Katrina opted out of the project, the directors have roped in the current favourite Sonam Kapoor for the lead actress role. Katrina walked out on the men-in-white in favour of a Yash Raj film opposite Imran Khan.

If everything goes according to plan from here, this will be Sonam’s first stint at the action-thriller genre. The cast also includes Neil Nitin Mukesh and Bobby Deol. Our guesses on the character allotment are: Abhishek Bachchan would be in the lead role which was essayed by Mark Wahlberg in the Hollywood remake, Neil Nitin Mukesh will be the trusted aide which was played by Jason Statham, Sonam Kapoor as the lead actor’s love interest (a role taken care of by Charlize Theron) and Bobby Deol as the bad guy, enacted by Edward Norton in the Hollywood movie.

Going by the climatic chase scene from Race, we trust Abbas-Mustan with the epic car chase.
