Aamir’s look in 3 Idiots is inspired by his nephew and A.R Murugados

Aamir Khan, the perfectionist that he is, says that he single mindedly put together a distinct look for his character in the upcoming movie, 3 Idiots. Aamir plays the role of Rancho, a 20 year old engineering student in the movie and if we check the trailers we do find it him to be convincing in the role. Playing a character half his age was a tough task and it required the actor to sport a lanky boyish look and body language.

Aamir is said to have borrowed the look from A.R. Murugadoss, the director of one of Bollywood’s all time blockbusters, Ghajini. The secret was let out by Raju Hirani who is the director of 3 Idiots. Aamir admitted this and added that he found Murugadoss’s dress sense quite amusing. Murugadoss always chose to wear worn-out shirts and T-shirts which were two sizes larger. Aamir borrowed some T-shirts from Murugadoss as well.

The body language for his character was based on his nephew’s demeanour. Aamir’s cousin Mansoor Khan’s teenage son Pablo served as the actor’s model of reference in terms of creating the body language for Rancho. Aamir says, “It was important for me to get into the mind of the character, I was sure that physically I would be able to pull it off by observing Pablo. But it was most important to feel young.”
