Here is a piece of bad news for those who were dying to see a sequel to Sarkar Raj. Ram Gopal Verma isn't interested in making the third part of the dark crime-political drama. Speculations involving the inclusion of Ranbir Kapoor in a prospective sequel have been blown away by this statement from the maverick director. "I've met Ranbir Kapoor. And we've discussed some possibilities on what we can do. But 'Sarkar 3' is not one of them. I don't want to make any more 'Sarkar' films. Not now, not in the future," says RGV.Sarkar which was loosely based on The Godfather series was a critial and commercial hit when released in 2005. RGV followed it up with a sequel in 2008 with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan reprising their roles. Aishwarya Rai joined the cast in a major role in the second movie. The director is is no mood to make a third movie to form a trilogy of sorts. He is more inclined to get back to the romantic movie mode with a project similar to Rangeela. Ranbir is being considered for the lead role. For the time being, RGV has got plenty of work with Rann and Rakta Charita at hand. His busy schedule has made him transfer the director's chair of Phoonk 2 to his assistant, Milind Gadagkar. |
