Looks like Ghajini and 3 Idiots have a name threatening their thrones as the box office blockbusters of recent times. Shah Rukh Khan’s My Name is Khan has grossed a total of Rs 1.75 billion worldwide and the Indian audience’s shelved out a total of Rs. 1.02 billion dollars of the total collections. Distributors claim that Rs. 72 million is a record of sorts for a Bollywood movie in the international markets.

The SRK-Kajol starrer is a smash hit in the Middle East and has earned $ 3.3 million. In the UAE the collections are close to those of Hollywood biggies like Transformers 2, The Dark Knight and the Twilight sequel. Fox Searchlight who is in charge of international distribution expects the movie to earn twice as much as Slumdog Millionaire earned in the territory. In the US, which is one of the strongest foreign markets of SRK, the movie collected $ 3.8 million which is way ahead of director Karan Johar’s previous movie Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

For SRK who also donned the role of the producer,the success of My Name Is Khan is nothing short of a double bonanza.
