Kites has created a record at the US box office by being the first Bollywood film to have ever broken into the weekend box office top 10 movies. The Hrithik Roshan-Barbara Mori starrer raked in close to $ 1 million on its opening weekend - $958,673 to be exact. Though the takings have been far less to than that of My Name is Khan which opened with $ 1.09 million. Point to be noted is that MNIK was released in 120 theatres in the US while Kites has got more presence across the US with close to 208 theatres screening the movie.

The Remix version of Kites which will be released on May 28 is expected to be a bigger draw with its Bret Rattner touch that has adapted the movie for the non-Hindi speaking US audience.
