![]() Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer Anjaana Anjaani may not have had the favourable reviews in its favour. But it did manage to grab a healthy Rs. 80 million (Rs. 8 crore) with close to 90 percent occupancy in multiplexes in all the key northern territories. Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Anjaana Anjaani has been welcomed by young audiences with open arms. However, since the setting and treatment of the movie is NRI-centric, single screens have chosen to retain screening Dabangg which is still a top draw.
![]() It’s competition, Robot, the dubbed version of Rajnikanth-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Endhiran has failed to take off in the north. Robot has made it to 1000 theatres in the Hindi market. Rajnikanth’s return after a hiatus of three years, the most expensive Asian film ever made, the biggest movie project of the decade, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s lead female role, A.R Rahman’s music – all these do not seem to have created the interest required for a huge opening. On the other hand, the Tamil version of the Shankar movie has exceeded expectations and tickets have been sold out for the entire week ahead. Both Anjaana Anjaani and Robot are expected to improve their performance in the weekend and the positive reviews which Robot has received will prove to be helpful for its better chances at the box office.
