Guzaarish had everything that a perfect Bollywood movie could ask for – a beautiful pair of lead actors, lavish sets, popular soundtrack and a talented director at the helm. However Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan couldn’t recreate the magic of Dhoom 2 or Jodhaa Akbar this time around. With the lukewarm response that Guzaarish has received at the ticket window, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has another flop at hand after the debacle of Saawariya. The opening weekend figures stood at Rs. 150 million (Rs. 15 crore) which is drastic for a superstar vehicle. The producers found hope in the positive reviews and the word-of-mouth publicity which saves the day for weak openers. That didn’t happen as well. The week days found the movie bleeding even more and the second weekend netted in an even depressing Rs. 37.5 million (Rs. 3.75 crore). The 10 day collection stand at Rs. 257 million (Rs. 25.7 crore) and chances of the movie making profit is meagre even with the sale of satellite, music and video rights. Whiplash: Guzaarish is the second flop in a row for Hrithik Roshan after Kites and a hat-trick for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after Raavan and Action Replayy.
