Blue took a staggering initial of Rs. 250 million in the first weekend and the makers claim its worldwide collections in the opening weekend to be in the range of Rs. 510 million. But it still has a long way to go before making profit. Different sources quote different figures as the mega movie’s budget. But our estimated budget is Rs.1 billion. The reviews are not in favour of the Akshay Kumar-Sanjay Dutt starrer which is directed by new comer Anthony D’souza. Even the presence of Katrina Kaif and pop singer Kylie Minogue (in cameos) haven’t pleased the audience that much. A.R Rahman’s music hasn’t received the usual accolades which is also a major drawback for the movie. Word of mouth publicity is quite poor with only Lara Dutta being regarded as the

best of the cast and that too because of her stunning bikini act.

 

Meanwhile the audience and the critics unanimously agree on the movie’s technical finesse especially the styling, underwater cinematography and action. The huge opening is attributed to the enormous hype that was generated around this movie and everyone is keen to see what the excitement is about. Once the hype dies, Blue may sink to the depths. The makers are hoping that it holds for a few more weeks so that the sky-high budget is recovered.
