Dum Maaro Dum is a hit; saves Abhishek’s sinking career

With encouraging word-of-mouth publicity and enticing trailers, Rohan Sippy’s crime thriller Dum Maaro Dum finally fetched Abhishek Bachchan the box office success that he desperately needed. Made on a budget of Rs. 200 million (Rs. 20 crore), Dum Maaro Dum opened to generally positive reviews and collected Rs. 165 million (Rs. 16.5 crore) in its opening weekend which is way above what Bachchan Jr’s previous releases managed to rake in.

Game - Rs 28 million (Rs 2.8 crore)
Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey - Rs 32.5 million (Rs 3.25 crore)

With satellite and music rights adding a sum of around Rs. 100 million (Rs. 10 crore) to the global BO collections of Rs. 350 million (Rs. 35 crore), the revenue generated stands at Rs. 450 million (Rs. 45 crore).

Produced by Fox Star Studios, the movie set in Goa featured a cast consisting of Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Rana Daggupati, Prateik Babbar and Aditya Pancholi with a cameo appearance by Deepika Padukone.
